Boat calls for help off coast of Tītahi Bay, Wellington

The coastguard is responding after a boat called for help off the coast of Tītahi Bay north of Wellington.

The vessel raised the alarm just before 5pm, police said.

It reported that it had lost steering and asked for a tow back to Mana Marina.

Police said it was not known how many people were on board.
